Literary Analysis #2

1. In the fiction book The Titans Curse by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson sets out on another adventure to help save the world. His friend Grover was out on an adventure and he discovered two new demigods. They were brother and sister and they have been surviving all alone all by themselves until Grover found them. Percy has to go and rescue them and at the same time he is falling into a trap. The Titan Lord Kronos is making a devious plan to rise again and he is using Percy and his friends to help him.
2. The theme of this story is never give up. The author most likely wrote about this theme to show that everyone goes through thick and thin but you should never give up hope.
3. I chose this book because I’ve been wanting to finish the series but I never really got around to it. The books are really interesting and I only have two more to go.
4. This book isn’t really realistic because there are gods and they give their children powers. I made a connection with the two new demigods because there is an older sister and a younger brother, and the sister looked out for her brother and they grew up mainly with each other just like my sister and I.
5. The authors tone in this book is pretty serious but they also crack jokes quite a lot. He tends to joke around whenever he is starting to get into a fight or after he finished a fight.
6. Foreshadowing- “And before anyone could react, the monster, with Annabeth still on his bacl, leaped over the cliff and tumbled into the darkness” (pg. 26). Onomatopoeia- “There was a snap-snap-snap from the helicopter-the sound of gunfire” (pg. 27). Foreshadowing  “But still, it’s weird, you having a nightmare the same night as Zoe. It’s almost like-“(pg. 77).
1. “And don’t call me boss!” (pg. 110) “Hi, I said. Uh what’s up?” (pg. 79) “Such gratitude. He muttered.

“(pg. 239). “I wish she was here, I said” (pg. 206). Rick Riordan uses both approaches because there is some things that one character is trying to say but he doesn’t want them to be speaking to one but many characters.

Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse

In Ali Khan's non-fiction article entitled Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse, he argues that you should prepare for a zombie apocalypse and a real emergency.

The author supports his claim by including information about setting up an emergency kit. It's said that you should include water, food, medication, tools and supplies, sanitation/hygiene, clothing & bedding, and important documents, and first aid supplies. These are the essential things that you would need to have with you if there was an outbreak or if there was an emergency. They will help you to survive in these types of situations.

The author next proceeds to show that you should always have an emergency plan in these types of situations. You should have two places to meet up with your family, one that is near your home and one that is further away. The emergency plan should also have emergency contacts that are both local and out of state just in case something bad happens. The emergency plan should also include a plan for an escape route out of the city if its needs to be evacuated.

Finally, the author argues that you should be prepared for a zombie apocalypse because the CDC will be there to assist people. They will do their best to investigate the disease. They will also assist cities, states, and international partners. They will do a lot of lab testing and analysis and try their best to determine the cause of illness. They will also send federal agencies and send medical teams to help people who are in the affected areas.

Literary Analysis

In The Sea Of Monsters, by Rick Riordan a boy named Percy Jackson is a demi god that the immortal world depends on. His camp that he stays at over summer to train for his fighting skills and everything else, is slowly weakening because the tree that holds up the magical borders has been poisoned. So they set out on a quest to go get the golden fleece because it has powers that can cure anything. Beside that, they have to go rescue his friend Grover because he was out on a quest and he was captured by a cyclops. That cyclops is also the same cyclops who holds the golden fleece.

The theme of the story would probably be courage and friendship. It took a lot of courage for Percy to go set out on this quest because it wasn't his quest. Also because he wasn't allowed to leave the camp or else he would be kicked out of the camp forever and he broke the rules and went for his friend and the fleece. The theme would also be friendship because Percy cares that much about his friend that he would go after him and save him, even though it puts his life at risk too.

The authors tone in the story is sounding like he wants Percy to be mad most of the time. He's always getting into trouble at school even though its not always his fault. His actions also show how angry he can get at times to. "Strength coursed through my body. I raised my sword and attacked, forgetting that I was hopelessly outmatched." This line shows how a cyclops got Percy mad and he used all his rage to fight the monster and beat him almost to a pulp.

The author uses a lot imagery that helped me understand the surroundings around the characters. "In the meadow at the base of the ravine, several dozen sheep were milling around. They looked peaceful enough, but they were huge-the size of hippos"(Riordan, 202). In this quote he was describing a little bit about the island and the animals that lived there. "Standing right next to me was a guy in nylon running shorts and a New York City Marathon T-shirt. He was slim and fit, with salt-and-pepper hair and a sly smile" (Riordan,98). In this quote he is describing a runner that he saw while he was out at night at the beach and he came running by. The author uses a good amount of illustration to help me paint pictures in my head and understand the surrounding and the characters better.

Antigone vs Creon

In Antigone, by Sophocles two brothers named Eteocles and Polyneices kill each other. Eteocles gets to be buried but Polyneices doesn’t. So Antigone goes against Creon for her brothers right to be buried.

Throughout the story Antigone doesn’t turn her back on her family and stays loyal to her family. Antigone says, “That must be your excuse, I suppose. But as for me, I will bury the brother I love” (Prologue,68) This shows that Antigone is loyal to her family because she doesn’t care what others think, as long as she gives her brother the respect he needs. In the prologue Antigone states that her brother must be buried because it is the law of the gods. Creon doesn’t have any respect for his family but is loyal to the state. Creon says, “As long as I am king, no traitor is going to be honored with the loyal man’ (Scene 1,49). He is loyal to the state because he thinks that he is better than everyone and everyone lives under him and the law. In scene 1, Creon says that Polyneices will not be buried because he went against the law. That shows that he is not loyal to his family because he respects the law more than his family. This shows how Antigone and Creon are different because they have respect for different things.

Both Antigone and Creon can also be the same in some ways. Antigone says, “Creon is not strong enough to stand in my way” (Prologue,36) In scene 2 Antigone tells Creon that she did bury Polyneices and she was scared or ashamed of her actions. Creon also takes pride in his decisions and actions. Creon says, “Whatever you say, you will not change my mind” (Scene 74,76). Creon doesn’t care about what Terisias says, he just has too much and doesn’t want to lose it by burying Polyneices.

Overall Antigone and Creon aren’t that much different. They both let their pride get to the best of them. Although the difference is, is they have respect for two different things.

The Chronicles Of Jorge

Why hello there, my name is Jorge Delgado and the last time I checked I was 15 years old. I lived a pretty normal life before high school, hung out with friends a lot and did my time in the outside world and inside playing video games. I went to Ontiveros for elementary and I went to Tommie Kunst for jr. high. Elementary was alright but jr high mmm I liked it way more and had a lot fun while I was there and I miss it a little. Anyways lets get this show on the road!
Alright well, summer wasn’t all that fun it was pretty boring cause I was home alone 99% of the time. But at the same time it was cool, because it gave me a lot of time to find and listen to a lot of new music because I’m a fan of almost any kind of music. I was supposed to go to Lake Tahoe (wherever that is) and it sounded really fun but my momma never took us so I was all sad about it and lost all hope in mankind. So yeah you know, I spent the night at my friend Ervnig’s house and we had a crazy night. We were popping bottles and broke a couple windows, but it was all good in the hood cause we blamed Erving’s brother muahaha. Then after that we went shopping and bumped music really loud in the car and Erving was trying really hard to get the ladies but it didn’t work out entirely great for him.
When I grow up and graduate from high school, I really don’t know what I’m gonna be. I don’t even know if I wanna go to college, or what college I would actually wanna go to. I’ll probably work my way up to being someone important like a business man. But then again that kind of job seems boring and I want a job that’ll be a lot of fun. Or maybe I can be someone famous and have a lot of fun, maybe I’ll become a musician. Maybe I’ll be a rapper like Chance The Rapper or a singer Frank Ocean. Holy cow at this rate I might as well start a band and call it like Bottle Poppers and we’ll be like a second Wu-Tang combined with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros sort of thing. Or I can be Kid Cudi and be all of them at the same time, yeah that sounds a lot more like it.
